Club Newsletter – April 2008

After many years of effort the 3G all weather facility at St John Fishers Sports College is almost ready. The school will have taken over the £1 million facility by the time this newsletter reaches you and Dewsbury Rangers will be using it for training from next winter. You may have seen in the press and our website the cheque presentation by our local MP, Mr Shahid Malik of £717,655 – this and more besides has been spent completely on this facility and the drainage of pitches at SJF. The club has, as premier partners, obtained a reduced hourly rate and we are delighted to inform you that we will be extending our “winter” training period from September to March each year to take advantage of this facility. We also have priority booking and have block booked Thursday and Friday evenings from 6-9pm.We hope you will appreciate the facility and the improvements it gives our players and coaches

Fundraising and expenditure

The club would like to let all the parents have a better understanding why we keep making requests for your support for our fundraising events.
The only income we have is from the annual registration fees, annual or monthly subscriptions, donations and revenue from any fundraising events. We spend money on all of the following, and more, each season (figures quoted from season 2006-07)

Pitch hire £1448                                                                   Winter training £4516

Work on Bywell C/rooms £2883                                        Gala entries £1465

League Subscriptions £658                                               New kits/raintops £6293

New equipment £2214                                                       Referee fees £1819

Coach training £671                                                                       Presentation trophies £2413

Christmas Parties £2111

The total of the above is £26491 for one season, it will be more than this amount this season. The club have also committed to contribute £12000 towards the SJF 3G pitch and we will have to pay an hourly fee to use the facility, which even though discounted is likely to be higher than the amounts we currently pay.

As you can see each year we have to pay more and more just to keep the club running at a level that we believe you all want for your children. We will continue to do this but will also have to budget for the upkeep of the clubhouse in the future. This is why we ask all parents to support all the clubs fundraising activities wherever possible.

2008-09 Registration Fee & Subscriptions

We are planning to leave the monthly & annual subscriptions payments at the same amount for season 2008-09 but will have no option but to increase the one off registration fee from £25 to £35. If you also complete the gift aid form and return it to the club we can recover an additional 23% from the tax man and it doesn’t cost you any more money. Even with this increase the total payable each season is either £135 or £125 depending on how you pay and when compared to other local football clubs we are still cheaper over the season than other local teams

League or West Riding County Fines – From season 2008-09

For previous seasons the club has reserved the right to charge back to any person fines that may have been the result of their actions on the pitch. Due to an increase in the numbers received and to clarify the situation, from the start of next season the club will recharge all fines that any person may receive.

2008 Annual Presentation Night – this ever popular annual event has now been booked with The Frontier for Monday the 12th of May 2008.

2008 Annual Gala – On Sunday the 6th of July at Earlsheaton Technology College

Future Club Events

The club have almost finalised the clubhouse plans and once completed they will be sent for planning permission. The bid to the Football Foundation will then follow, if successful we hope to start work later this year.

We hope that you all agree that the teams all look fantastic in their matching club kits and this provides an excellent image for the club throughout the region.

We have many things going in the right direction for this club but we can only continue to improve with your support.

Leeds United Summer Training camp

The club in association with Leeds United are looking to hold a 2 day summer soccer training school at St John Fishers Sports College. The date is to be confirmed but is most likely to be during the 6 week holidays in August. Costs are to be confirmed but the usual cost for a 2 day course of this kind is £40 per child and priority would be given to Dewsbury Rangers JFC registered players. More information will be provided when available

Dewsbury Rangers JFC Presentation Night

Dear Parents

As you will be aware, every year the club holds a presentation night to recognise the hard work and achievements the players have made throughout the season. Each player receives a trophy or shield. Some if they are lucky receive two. Due to the number of players and family members this event attracts, we have had to hire the Frontier for the last few years as this is the only venue large enough to hold such an event. To help pay for the trophies, venue hire etc, money is used from funds raised throughout the previous year.

Unfortunately, due to lack of support in fundraising, a decision has been made by the Club to introduce a small admission fee for the presentation night.  Admission on the night will be by ticket only, which can be purchased from your team coach or fundraising member at £2:50 per adult (which includes a free raffle entry to be held on the night), children are free. Please note – children must be accompanied on the night by an adult. This decision was not an easy one to make as we have never had to do this previously, but without support throughout the year, events like this will not be able to continue without making a charge to cover costs.

Thank you to those of you that have supported us throughout the year.

Dewsbury Rangers Fun Day

On Saturday 19th July, Dewsbury Rangers would like to invite you to a fun Day to be held at Wakefield Road Playing Fields. The idea behind the Fun Day is to raise the profile of the club and try to encourage new players to join us. Existing players will be able to re-register for the new season on the day. Attractions at the fun day will include refreshment stalls, bouncy castle, BBQ, jacket potato wagon, ice cream van and a football skills area.

More information will be available nearer the time and on the website. Hope to see you all there.

Dewsbury Rangers JFC has registered with "The Press" newspaper in the "Community Chest" competition to win £5000 for the club. To do this, we have to collect as many Community Chest vouchers as possible which are printed in the weekly newspaper. We have until May 15th to do this. Could we ask ALL parents who get The Press newspaper to look out for the vouchers and collect them and hand them into either the coach or fundraiser for each age group.

Regards
