Club Newsletter – December 2007

Seasons GreetingsMay the management committee wish all our players, parents and member’s season’s greetings and we hope that you have a fantastic festive period. Don’t forget though that some teams have games scheduled by the RCD league during the festive period, so please check with your coach.

Update on 3rd Generation facility at St John Fishers Work has started and hopefully the project will be ready to use for next season. We’ve included photos of the progress on the Dewsbury Rangers website, so why not check out the SJF link for yourself to see how it’s going www.dewsburyrangersjfc.co.uk

FundraisingTickets will soon be available through your coach / fundraiser for a great night at the dogs. The tickets are £10 each. For this you will get coach travel from Dewsbury to Kinsley dog track, admission in, and coach travel back. The date for your diary is Friday 29th February. Come and join us for a great night out whilst at the same time you will be supporting the club. Please note tickets are very limited in numbers and will be sold on a first come first served basis but will be non refundable. On a more disappointing note we were forced to cancel the autumn disco due to poor ticket sales (only 37) this is the first time in 11 years we’ve had to take such measures. You will have already received a questionnaire from the fund raising committee and we would ask you to complete it and return it to your coach without delay to allow us to decide what future events would be viable and interesting to our members

Junior Player PhotographsIt has been brought to the attention of the committee that a small number of parents have been taking photographs of the children during games and then adding them to a website. For child protection reasons the club abides by the rules of the governing bodies for junior football and anyone wishing to take photographs of junior players must gain written permission from all the players’ parents before doing so, including the opposition. Parents wishing to add photographs of players to a website must also request written permission to do so from the clubs committee. We will be adding a section to next season’s registration forms that would allow any parents, who wish to exclude their children from any club photo’s that may be added to the official club website or local press photographs, to inform us. In the meantime if you wish to action this now please let your coaches know.

Club DisciplineAt the start of this season each member club of the RCD League and West Riding County FA have been warned about the discipline of both their players and parents and any club having been proved to allow players or parents to continually abuse opponents or officials, will be called before the league and WRCFA to explain these issues. Potentially the outcome if this is not resolved to the league/WRCFA’s satisfaction is that the club may have it’s FA Charter Standard removed, in reality this means removal from the leagues with no teams, even mini soccer, being allowed to take part in junior football matches. The club has a disciplinary procedure and committee already in place and we will not hesitate to call players or members to appear before this committee to explain their actions, if we receive reports of poor behaviour at games. Ultimately the management committee have to powers to expel members/players/parents if it is not in the clubs best interests to allow them to remain within the club, and we will not let anyone spoil the enjoyment of junior football at Dewsbury Rangers JFC for the vast majority of our well behaved members. As a lesson to us all here are a couple of real life incidents that we have heard about already this season.

One club has been accused of playing over age players which has been proven, they will lose all the points for the matches that these players took part in and be fined

Another club had parents and a player attacking an official and the police were involved, this is still being investigated by the league who are waiting to take action once a decision has been taken by the police.

We are not trying to scare you but just warn you of the consequences of your actions, please remember that this is junior football and the referees are giving their time as much as you are to support your teams. Only encourage the players/opponents with positive words or actions. Players and parents who are fined should not expect the club to be responsible for the costs.

You may have already noticed this season either cones or lines marked 2 metres behind the touchline, this is a request from the league that everyone apart from the linesman and coaches should stand behind this line whilst matches are in play – thank you for your help in this matter.
