Several years ago a small group of dedicated members of the Dewsbury Rangers JFC Development Committee met with representatives of St John Fishers High School to propose a bid to the Football Foundation for the establishment of a state of the art, 3rd generation all weather multi purpose pitch. The pitch would be built at the school in partnership with Dewsbury Rangers JFC with priority usage, outside school hours, going to the clubs members. To be self funding the facility would also be available for members of the community to use outside these times and at the normal rates charged for this type of facility.

Obtaining planning permission took up many years but eventually with concessions being made to local residents this was obtained and the full project was submitted to the Football Foundation early in 2007. The partnership was highly delighted to be informed that the Football Foundation awarded the project £717,655.00 and the cheque is proudly displayed below by Mr Bernie Preece one of the main people behind the project and without whom it would have floundered a long time ago.
