Dewsbury Rangers at the Dewsbury Rangers gala

Rangers under 14's A started their home gala in sluggish fashion losing their opening game to Upperthong 4-1, however they recomposed themselves and won the next 3 games to meet Drighlington in the semi-final. Rangers dominated this game and a goal from Alex Bruce in the opening minute put them in control. The game was completed when Josh Greenwood scored the second.
The final was against their first opponents Upperthong who play their league football in a higher division. This was a different game to the opener and in a very close, tight match both teams had limited chances and it was 0-0 at half time. It was more and more likely that one goal would win the tournament and unfortunately this fell to Upperthong. Rangers pressed all the way until the end but couldn't score. Upperthong won the under 14's gala and Dewsbury Rangers A were runners up, congratulations to Joe Allerton, Brad Kilner, Alex Peace, Alex Bruce, Connor Burton, Claude Dawkins and Josh Greenwood.

Dewsbury Rangers at the Batley gala

Rangers under 14's entered the Batley gala for the first time and overcame some determined opposition as well as gale force winds to win the trophy. Rangers scored the first in the opening match against the hosts but Batley fought back to equalise. Rangers won their next three group games against 3D Dynamoes, Bradford Park Avenue and Drighlington, losing the last game 1-0 to Hollingworth. Fate paired the two together in the semi final this time Rangers put in the game of their tournament to beat Hollingworth 1-0 to reach the final. The final against Bradford Park Avenue was 0-0 after normal time and looked to be heading for penalties when Rangers had a stroke of luck and an own goal gave them the lead, however their was no luck about the winner a fantastic volley from Claude Dawkins which put the game out of reach and Rangers took the trophy. Congratulations to Josh Greenwood, Claude Dawkins, Brad Kilner, Aaron Bentley, Conor Gissing, Alex Peace and Connor Burton

The visitors started well, passed the ball cleanly and showed why they are champions and they took the lead in the 8th minute following a good cross which was headed home giving keeper Joe Allerton no chance. Rangers regrouped and worked hard with Claude Dawkins and Alex Bruce working hard in midfield. The defence stood firm and Saints had few other chances in the first half. Rangers equalised just before half time when a shot from distance fooled the keeper for Thomas Ramsden to score. The second half was a battling performance and Saints were limited in chances by Brad Kilner, Dan Squire, Rob Bussey and Matthew Collins. Rangers took the opportunity from a Collins corner for Alex Peace to head home the winner. The MOM award was shared by the whole team.

Ramsden then added a second after a good cross by Peace and shot by Burton was well saved he followed the ball up to score. Burton then shot from distance to score to give Rangers a 4-1 interval lead. The game was much the same in the second half with Rangers threatening at every opportunity and Ramsden scored his hat trick with a good shot. Burton doubled his tally after a good cross from Claude Dawkins. Alex Bruce then scored with a shot from distance. The hosts scored a second which was merely a consolation before Rangers rounded off the game with a finely converted penalty by Brad Kilner after a handball in the area. Collins finished the scoring with a goal direct from a corner to leave Rangers 9-2 winners. MOM was Peace

Howden Clough B 1 v 5 Dewsbury Rangers  (25/04/08)

Rangers soon equalised with a goal from Connor Burton. Alex Peace doubled the lead soon after and Rangers then started to win more of the ball and Claude Dawkins scored just before half time to give Rangers a 3-1 lead. The second half was a closer match but after initial pressure from Clough Rangers scored 2 more with both coming from Josh Greenwood to end the match 5-1 winners. MOM was Brad Kilner

Dewsbury Rangers 2 v 0 Brighouse  (20/04/08)

Rangers started well at home to Brighouse but were matched by a strong, physical team. Rangers took the lead after a corner was swung in and confusion in the defence allowed Claude Dawkins to side foot home. The lead was doubled within minutes when a corner by Matthew Collins was headed home by a defender.
Rangers changed playing positions around and Brad Kilner and Aaron Bentley settled well in midfield with Sam Shaw coming into right back. Dan Squire and Dawkins held the defence well and Josh Greenwood and Connor Burton chased every ball forward. Rangers could have increased the lead when awarded a penalty but a fine save by the keeper denied them. Alex Bruce played some good football in the poor conditions and Rangers went on to win 2-0. MOM was Shaw

Hebden Bridge Saints 0 v 2 Dewsbury Rangers  (13/04/08)

Rangers started very brightly away at Champions elect Hebden Bridge Saints with early midfield pressure from  Aaron Bentley and Alex Bruce leading to a pass from Alex Peace which Thomas Ramsden closed down quickly, the defence tried to play the ball out but pressure from the team led to a mistake and Connor Burton was able to score the opener. The home team were rattled and a good cross from Ramsden saw Claude Dawkins shoot just wide. Hebden started to play football and showed why they have lost only 2 games all season prior to this and keeper Joe Allerton had to be sharp on more than one occasion to keep Saints at bay.
The defence of Rob Bussey, Dan Squire, Brad Kilner and Matthew Collins worked tirelessly as a unit and gave very little away. The second half started much the same with Sam Shaw and Josh Greenwood coming into play, it was Greenwood who doubled the lead following a good run and cross by Burton, Greenwood volleyed to give the keeper no chance. Saints had a chance to pull one back when a penalty was awarded for a foul in the area but it wasn't their day and the shot was well wide. Rangers were deserved 2-0 winners and MOM was Allerton

 Brighouse 5 v 4 Dewsbury Rangers  (06/04/08)

Rangers started well away at Brighouse in blizzard conditions that were sometimes close to having the game called off.. Rangers opened the scoring following a breakaway and a cool finish from Connor Burton. Brighouse were strong and physical in the tackle and soon equalised following a defensive mistake. They doubled their lead just before the half time break.
The second half started much the same as the first and Rangers were the first to score with Burton bagging his 2nd to equalise. In this end to end encounter the home side scored again and added a fourth before Burton grabbed his hat trick to bring Rangers back to life. The home side scored their 5th before MOM Burton scored the goal of the game, after a poor clearance by the keeper he picked the ball up just inside the Brighouse half and fired high above the keeper for his 4th. Time ended the rangers fightback to leave them 5-4 losers.

Gomersal 3 v 1 Dewsbury Rangers  (30/03/08)

Rangers started very slowly away at Gomersal, and should have been a goal behind when the home team were awarded a penalty early on for hand ball. The penalty flew high and wide and didn't trouble Joe Allerton in goal. Rangers took a surprise lead after a good ball from Alex Peace found Claude Dawkins whose shot from outside the area was well dummied by Josh Greenwood to beat the keeper.
The home team were then awarded a second penalty and this time made no mistake to equalise. The second half started much the same way and Allerton had to be alert to save a deflected shot. The hosts then broke and a good finish saw them take the lead. Rangers tried to battle back but a third penalty for the home team demoralised them and saw them go 3-1 down. MOM was Rob Bussey

Bradford Park Avenue 1 v 9 Dewsbury Rangers  (16/03/08)

Rangers started well away at Bradford Park Avenue on a very muddy pitch, early possession saw a shot from Connor Burton from out of the area beat the keeper. Avenue rallied and played some good passing to equalise. Rangers soon resumed dominating the play and good interplay by Claude Dawkins saw Alex Peace lob the keeper from some distance. A fine cross field ball from Alex Bruce was centred by Peace, Burton tried to finish but hit the post for the ball to fall to Thomas Ramsden to score.
Rangers almost scored another straight away but Dan Squire's headed came back off the cross bar. Burton then hit the cross bar before Josh Greenwood rounded off a good first half with a fine shot to give a 4-1 half time lead. Bruce again turned provider for Burton to score again. Ramsden then added his second as Rangers found the going easier than their opponents. A shot towards the far post saw a defender score an own goal, before Bruce capped a good performance with a good shot past the keeper. Peace finished the scoring to leave Rangers 9-1 winners. MOM was Dan Squire

Rangers made the best start possible away at high flying Shipley going 2 up within the first five minutes. The first following an Alex Bruce free kick which Shipley were unable to clear and captain Brad Kilner stabbed the ball home. The second from a ball over the top saw Connor Burton finish well. Thomas Ramsden thought he had increased the lead but his goal was disallowed for offside.
The home team then rallied and overcoming the muddy, boggy pitch managed to play some good football and despite the best efforts of Joe Allerton in goal and Dan Squire, & Rob Bussey in defence they scored two before half time. The second half started much the same way with a quick goal from Shipley  before two more near the end flattered the score line, to finish 5-2 to the hosts. MOM as chosen by his opponents was Matthew Collins for a hard tackling, determined defensive display.

Heckmondwike  Town 2 v 1 Dewsbury Rangers  (02/03/08)

(Quarter final of the RCD League cup)

Rangers were visitors to League One opponents Heckmondwike Town in the quarter final of the RCD Cup.

Heckmondwike started well but Rangers closed down every ball and gave 100% in every tackle. The defence of Dan Squire, Aaron Bentley, Mattie Collins, Rob Bussey and Brad Kilner were excellent from start to finish. The first half was very close with neither team able to break the deadlock but only a fantastic one handed save from Joe Allerton kept the scores level at the break. Connor Burton worked hard in the first half but had to leave the field due to injury. The hosts were the first to break the deadlock early into the second half but the never say die attitude of Rangers saw them equalise within minutes to shock the higher division team. The goal came after a pass from Bentley to MOM Josh Greenwood whose excellent through ball found Thomas Ramsden who had a defender to beat but then shot into the corner of the net. The midfield of Alex Bruce, Claude Dawkins, Alex Peace and Sam Shaw worked tirelessly. Rangers started to tire towards the end and Heckmondwike found the second but not before Greenwood cleared off the line. Final score Heckmondwike Town 2, Dewsbury Rangers 1. Rangers send their best wishes to Heckmondwike in the semi finals.

Dewsbury Rangers  1 v 1 Shipley (24/02/08)

Rangers started at home against high flying opponents Shipley. The visitors showed why they are near the top of the league and applied wave after wave of pressure in the first half, with Rangers struggling to clear the ball. A defensive mix up when the ball wasn't cleared allowed Shipley to take the lead after 8 minutes but Rangers regained their composure and started to win more of the ball and were unfortunate not to go in at half time level after Connor Burton's cross cum shot hit the crossbar. Defensively Brad Kilner and Rob Bussey were strong in the tackle.

The second half was a different game with Rangers bossing the match from the start and a fine pass by Alex Bruce found Burton outside the box whose fierce shot gave the keeper no chance to equalise. A good run from Thomas Ramsden found hard working Josh Greenwood who thought he'd won the game for Rangers but his shot came back off the crossbar. The game ended 1-1 which was probably a fair result for two teams who should be praised for their efforts. MOM was Rob Bussey

Dewsbury Rangers  1 v 0 Yorkshire Lions (10/02/08)

(3rd round of the RCD League cup)

Rangers under 14's impressive run continued to complete a 5 match unbeaten run and a home win in the 3rd round of the RCD league cup against higher division opponents Yorkshire Lions. The first half was a very close affair, with both sides having limited chances but keeper Joe Allerton and the defence of Brad Kilner, Dan Squires, Mattie Collins and Tom Riordan kept their team in the game with determined tackling.

Midfield duo of Aaron Bentley and Claude Dawkins worked tirelessly to keep their higher division opponents at bay. Rob Bussey tackled well in two positions and although limited by injury Sam Shaw competed well. The second half started with Lions doing all the attacking but being forced to shoot from distance. Rangers weathered the storm and started to play well and the breakthrough came following good interplay in the box from Thomas Ramsden and Josh Greenwood who found Connor Burton near the edge of the area and his fierce shot gave the keeper no chance.

Rangers had to keep working hard till the final whistle but held on to book their place in the quarter finals of the cup for the first time in this teams history. MOM was captain Brad Kilner for a leading by performance display.

Dewsbury Rangers  1 v 0 Honley (03/02/08)

Rangers returned to league action after a months enforced absence at home to Honley. Rangers started the brighter and good play from Alex Bruce & Claude Dawkins in midfield led to a chance for Thomas Ramsden. Dawkins also fired a shot wide. Joe Allerton had to be alert in goals and restricted Honley to shooting from wide. Aaron Bentley and Brad Kilner battled hard to keep Rangers in the game. Half time gave a chance for a tactical change with Dan Squire coming into defence and Bentley into midfield.

Rob Bussey and Matthew Collins gave their opponents little time on the ball and a good break and shot from Burton saw Rangers awarded a corner. Bentley floated the ball in to the far post and Burton found Josh Greenwood who slotted the ball home. Burton had another chance which brought a fine save from the keeper. Rangers ended up winners 1-0. MOM was Connor Burton

Shelley 3 v 5 Dewsbury Rangers  (13/01/08)

Strong defending from Collins Bussey Kilner Bentley kept the game even at half time.

The second half meant Dewsbury playing with the slope , and they started to put pressure on there opponents , after Alex Bruce pass had played in for Thomas Ramsden to score , a quick thinking throw in from Burton and Ramsden got his second of the game.

This was followed further goals from Josh Greenwood aided by Sam Shaw and then Brad Kilner to take a 5-1 lead , then the opponents missed a penalty after a Dan Squires foul , but in last 5 minutes after defensive substitutions , they did manage to score 2 further goals before the final whistle and result was 5-3 to Dewsbury.

Man of Match went to defender Matthew Collins.

Dewsbury Rangers 2 v 2 Gomersal  (06/01/08)

Rangers started their first game in over a month at home to Gomersal. Rangers dominated the first half but despite their best efforts could not find the opening goal, to convert their possession into a lead. The best effort came from Claude Dawkins whose shot was well saved by the keeper. The Rangers defence of Aaron Bentley, Mattie Collins, Rob Bussey and Brad Kilner kept any Gomersal chances to a minimum.

The second half started with the away side gaining much of the early play and a slip up in midfield allowed them to break to shoot past a diving Joe Allerton in goal. Minutes later they doubled their advantage after converting a penalty. Rangers then changed their formation to play with 3 strikers and this paid off when a good through ball by Bentley was calmly finished by Connor Burton. Then as the tensions increased after a bad foul on Burton, which the referee correctly allowed to continue as an advantage the home team kept playing and Thomas Ramsden broke through to gain the equaliser. Both sides pushed for a winner in the final few minutes but the game ended fairly at 2-2.

MOM was Aaron Bentley but a great team effort from all the players to stage a fight back from 2-0 down.

Dewsbury Rangers 3 v 1 Collegians  (25/11/07)

Rangers were at home to Collegians on a very wet December morning. After early close play Rangers were first to break the deadlock, Thomas Ramsden's fine cross was met on the volley by Sam Shaw, just returning from injury, to give Rangers the lead.

A chance to double the lead went begging after the visiting keeper made a good penalty save following hand ball. This didn't deter Rangers and following a determined run in the area Bradley Kilner finished well for his first goal of the season, not bad for a centre half!. The visitors started the better of the two teams in the second half and Rangers had to keep some good attacking play at bay.

A good break saw confusion in the penalty area with several Rangers players trying to finish, the ball eventually fell to Josh Greenwood who made it 3-0. Collegians scored a late consolation goal but the game ended 3-1 to Rangers. MOM was a very difficult decision with all the team deserving a mention but Thomas Ramsden took the award.

 Honley 3 v 2 Dewsbury Rangers (25/11/07)

Rangers faced Honley away on a difficult, sloping pitch. Both sides struggled with the conditions throughout the game and this meant little free flowing football. A good run from Matthew Collins saw the ball through to Connor Burton to score the opener. The home team continued to work hard and soon equalised with a good volley following a corner to leave the scores level at half time.

An enforced substitution due to injury saw Alex Peace playing in the unfamiliar right back role for the second period, with Dan Squire coming into central defence alongside captain Brad Kilner. Rangers thought they had taken the lead when Josh Greenwood hit a fierce shot but it hit the crossbar, Rangers broke again soon after and Burton crossed well for Claude Dawkins to head the ball home to go 2-1 in front. The lead was short lived as Honley soon scored again with a shot from distance. Rangers continued to work hard with Thomas Ramsden playing well in midfield.

The hosts then broke free to score what turned out to be the winner and even though Rangers kept pressing until the final whistle they could not find an equaliser. MOM was Aaron Bentley for an excellent game in midfield

Dewsbury Rangers 0 v 2 Netherton (18/11/07)

3rd played 4th in this home game for Dewsbury Rangers against Netherton. The first half showed why both teams are in the top half of the table being very tight with few chances. Josh Greenwood went close early on and Connor Burton had an effort well saved by the keeper towards half time. Rangers defence especially Aaron Bentley & Brad Kilner kept things tight. The second half started much the same with both teams playing good football in rainy conditions and the longer it went on the more likely a mistake or piece of good finishing would win the match. On 42 minutes Netherton almost took the lead with an effort just past the post, this provided Netherton with a boost and a fine long range shot by Beardshall gave Rangers keeper Joe Allerton no chance. Although previously undefeated Rangers battled on it wasn't to be their day and Netherton wrapped up the game just before the end with another long range shot by Edmonds to take all 3 points. A good match played in excellent spirit by both teams. MOM was midfielder Claude Dawkins for his tireless efforts in midfield

Dewsbury Rangers 3 v 1 Northowram (11/11/07)

(1st round of the RCD League cup)

Rangers started at home v Northowram in the 1st round of the RCD League cup. It was a slow start and Rangers took time to settle into the game with their opponents causing problems early on. A fine strike into the bottom corner on 12 minutes by Connor Burton eased the nerves a little but Northowram continued to work hard and give Rangers central defensive pairing of Brad Kilner and Aaron Bentley a hard time. Rangers managed to break and Burton scored his second but the determination of Northowram allowed them to score from a defensive error just before half time. Dan Squire came into the defence in the second half and Mattie Collins moved to midfield and managed some good forward runs. Rangers upped the pace in the second half and Josh Greenwood almost scored to restore the 2 goal lead. A defensive mix up allowed Burton to poach his third goal, and just before the end Sam Shaw thought he had scored but the goal was disallowed for offside but it is Rangers who go through to the second round. MOM was Alex Bruce who contributed throughout the second half with determination and excellent passing

Hatfield 4 v 0  Dewsbury Rangers (04/11/07)

(Second round WRCFA Junior Trophy)

A Rangers side depleted by injuries made the long trip to Hatfield to play in the 2nd round of the West Riding County FA Junior Trophy. The hosts took an early lead but all the Rangers team played with tenacity and almost equalised when a good shot by Connor Burton was turned away for a corner by the keeper. Some good defensive play by the newly formed centre half pairing of Josh Greenwood and Aaron Bentley restricted the opponents to long range shots. Just before half time a good move from the home team gave keeper Joe Allerton no chance to double their lead. The second half started again with a quick goal to the hosts and then an unstoppable 4th goal took the game away from Rangers. The team battled on to the end and Alex Peace, Alex Bruce, stand in skipper Rob Bussey and Sam Shaw all worked tirelessly. Mattie Collins was strong in the tackle but it wasn't Rangers day. MOM was selected by their opponents and went to Connor Burton for being involved in everything throughout the match

Dewsbury Rangers 4 v 3 Bradford Park Avenue (28/10/07)

Rangers started sluggishly at home to Bradford Park Avenue and missed a few chances on goal before a flick from Alex Peace was headed on by Thomas Ramsden for Connor Burton to lob the keeper. Burton returned the favour a few minutes later with a ball to Peace whose shot could only be parried by the keeper into the top corner to give Rangers a 2-0 half time lead. The visitors started the better of the teams in the second half and after a succession of free kicks they gave keeper Joe Allerton no chance and pulled one back. Rangers then conceded a penalty which was converted to equal the scores. Although the visitors had much of the play Rangers kept working and a scramble in the area saw Burton score his second. Only 2 minutes later the visitors were level again before Thomas Ramsden scored what turned out to be the winner for Rangers at 4-3. MOM was keeper Joe Allerton

Skelmanthorpe 1 v 2 Dewsbury Rangers (21/10/07)

Rangers started very well away at 3rd placed Skelmanthorpe, with both sides playing open and entertaining football. The first half was very even with Joe Allerton in goal making two good saves and the defence of Aaron Bentley, Brad Kilner, Rob Bussey and Matthew Collins playing very well as a unit and not allowing their opponents any free space. The half almost ended goalless but a corner for the home side was unfortunately sliced into his own net by Sam Shaw. The second half started in the same free flowing way with both sides pressing, Alex Bruce had a long range effort well saved by the keeper and Claude Dawkins and Alex Peace kept working away in midfield. The equaliser was a very well worked goal, with a fine pass by Sam Shaw reaching Thomas Ramsden who fed Connor Burton, Burton had a lot to do beating the defender to fire a shot in the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance. Rangers were now pushing hard for a winning goal and Bruce took his chance with another long range shot, this time the keeper fumbled the shot and the ball crossed the line. Rangers kept things tight and ended up winning 2-1. MOM was Aaron Bentley.

Dewsbury Rangers 7 v 0 AFC Emley (14/10/07)

Rangers started brightly at home to AFC Emley and soon took the lead with a good shot from Connor Burton after an excellent through ball by Sam Shaw. Alex Peace then flicked the ball to MOM Claude Dawkins whose cross was finished well by Alex Bruce to double the lead. Peace then converted  himself before adding two more in the space of 5 minutes to complete a well deserved hat-trick. Rangers led 5-0 at half time and the second half was much slower in comparison, but Tom Riordan returning from a long injury lay off first missed an easy chance but made sure with his second effort for his first goal of the season. Burton then fed Alex Bruce who finished well to double his tally. Rangers ending up 7-0 winners

East Leeds 2 v 5  Dewsbury Rangers (07/10/07)

(First round WRCFA Junior Trophy)

Rangers started their first round WRCFA Junior Trophy game away at East Leeds and it was the hosts who took an early lead, this was doubled from a penalty that gave keeper Joe Allerton no chance. Rangers regrouped and within 10 minutes a good turn and finish by Connor Burton saw them back in the game, more followed with a good through ball by midfielder Alex Bruce to Thomas Ramsden who saw a good shot find the net to end the half even. The second  started with the hosts being awarded a second penalty, which harshly saw Rob Bussey adjudged to have handled the ball. However Allerton made an excellent save to keep the scores level, the hosts almost immediately scored but a fantastic goal line clearance by Aaron Bentley kept them out. Rangers then took the initiative and another good ball by Bruce to Burton saw a good shot put Rangers in the lead, Josh Greenwood then found Ramsden who scored his second. MOM Burton completed his hat-trick towards the end to put Rangers through to the next round by 5 goals to 2. A good, hard working all round team effort from all involved

Dewsbury Rangers 2 v 2  Howden Clough B (30/09/07)

A lack lustre Rangers started very slowly at home to Howden Clough and it was no surprise when the visitors took the lead early in the first half, although Rangers worked hard during the half they struggled to beat the keeper or the off side trap. Just before half time Rangers equalised from a Kilner free-kick which was crossed by Bentley for Thomas Ramsden to finish superbly with an overhead scissors kick. The visitors who by this stage were down a player after their keeper was sent off for deliberate handball outside the box fought back with determination and again took the lead. Rangers equalised again through Ramsden and thought they might have clinched all 3 points when Burton was fouled but the referee did well and played advantage and the ball fell to Greenwood whose fierce shot flew back off the post. The match ended 2-2 with Kilner MOM

Rastrick 2 v 2 Dewsbury Rangers (23/09/07)

Rangers under 14's were a side depleted by injuries when they started away to Rastrick, but it was Rangers who started the game the more brightly and it only took 5 minutes for Connor Burton to turn and have a left footed shot that found the back of the net giving the keeper no chance. The home team then started to come into the game and the midfield pairing of Alex Bruce & Claude Dawkins worked hard to keep their opponents at bay, despite the best efforts of the defence marshalled excellently by Brad Kilner the home team equalised before half time. This didn't deter Rangers who kept going with excellent team play from Josh Greenwood, whose best chance at goal unfortunately fell straight to the keeper. Mattie Collins made good forward runs from defence and Aaron Bentley playing out of position made very few errors at the back. Keeper Joe Allerton had to make a couple of vital saves but it was Rangers through Thomas Ramsden who took the lead in the second half, the goal coming after he dribbled past 3 defenders to coolly finish in the bottom corner. Then it was all the home side trying for an equaliser and although MOM Rob Bussey battled throughout the game Rangers were disappointed to see the hosts score an equaliser from possibly an off-side position to finish the match 2-2

Collegians 0 v 3 Dewsbury Rangers (09/09/07)

Rangers started their 2007/08 season away at Collegians. Both teams started brightly but Rangers opened the scoring after 6 minutes following good play between Alex Bruce and Connor Burton to lay the ball to Alex Peace who finished well. Keeper Joe Allerton then made one of several good saves in the game to keep the hosts out. Rangers suffered a blow when they lost Captain Brad Kilner to a head injury mid way through the first half, but they kept playing well and soon Peace doubled his tally after a good ball from Claude Dawkins to give Rangers a 2-0 lead at half time. The second half started slowly with the home team pressing for a goal but the defence stood strong with Aaron Bentley playing well as a make-shift centre half, alongside Dan Squire and Rob Bussey doing well on his debut for the team. Towards the end Burton broke well but his shot was saved and fell to Josh Greenwood who made no mistake to increase Rangers lead. The game finished 3-0 to Rangers and Greenwood was MOM for his effort throughout the game
